OMTL Daily Devotions Day 22-28

ONE MONTH TO LIVE

Daily Devotions week Four

DAY TWENTY TWO

Read 2 Kings 4:1

When we are facing a difficult situation or experiencing a dry season we don’t know what to do, we have to turn to the one who does.  The first thing to do in a difficult trial is admit that we need help.

How difficult is it for you to admit your needs?  What are the three greatest needs in your life right now?  Who knows about them? What keeps you from sharing them with the people who care about you?  What keeps you from turning them over to God?

DAY TWENTY THREE

“The greatest use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it”

It takes great effort and investment to leave a lasting legacy.  Phil 2:10 tells us that only the name of Jesus will remain.  What we do for Him is all that will be remembered.

For what would you like to be remembered?  How are you contributing to this goal right now?  How long will this legacy last?

DAY TWENTY FOUR

‘Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.”

Saint Augustine

Read John 12:24

Am I sowing seed to meet my own needs or to meet the needs of others?

What did you do last week that will last for the rest of this year? For ten years?  For eternity?

How much time did you spend this week reading the word of God compared to the time you spent reading the newspaper or watching television?

 DAY TWENTY FIVE

The late Jim Elliot once said, “He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”

This quote was very instrumental in my choosing to embrace the call to pastoral ministry on my life.

A life of seeking first “His Kingdom” requires discipline and sacrifice. What daily disciplines seem ceaseless in your life?  Dishes?  Cooking?  Emails?  Phone Calls?

What things are you sacrificing daily in order to leave a consistent lasting legacy?

DAY TWENTY SIX

Read Proverbs 3:5-6

What is the greatest barrier to trusting God in your life right now?  What previous experiences have left you doubtful, angry, hurt, or disappointed?  Today, spend some time talking to God about these experiences.

DAY TWENTY SEVEN

Read Luke 6:38

The greatest gifts that God has given us are our time, our talents, and our treasures.  How often do you let opportunities to invest your time, talents, or treasures pass you by because you feel your contribution is too small?  Today, identify a situation or cause that you will invest into next week in some measure with you time, your talents, or your treasures.

DAY TWENTY EIGHT

“My children will not remember the words of wisdom I’ve passed along over the years, nor will yours remember the good advice you’ve given.  However, etched in their minds and planted in their hearts is a permanent picture of who you are and how you’ve lived before them.”

Dorothy Kelley Patterson

At this point in the 30 Day Challenge, what daily behaviors are still preventing you from living the no regrets life?  Today, make the decision to change those behaviors so you can begin to live life in a way that will create a lasting legacy.
